New designs from the Master Artist

This year we have been honored to be the featured Hot Rod Shop at the Lone Star Roundup.  I knew that with this honor, we needed to bring out some cool new stuff.  For some time now, I have been wanting some of Jeff Norwell‘s artwork  for the shop.  After a few e-mails, and some brainstorming secessions we had the sketches in hand.  Not long after that, Jeff sent the final designs.  And well, here they are!  Please don’t touch, the ink may still be wet.

I cannot sing anything but praises about Jeff Norwell’s talent. Not only did he get the job done when I needed, but went far and beyond what I thought they could ever look like.

These T-shirts will be on sale in our Store, and at our booth at THE LONE STAR ROUND UP. If you are able to make it to the show, please stop by and say hi.

The Road Less Traveled

Over the years I have been blessed to be able to see some of our great country. Whether it be the main roads or back roads, there is always something to look at.  On our latest trip I saw a glimpse of the future.

This past Saturday, one of our long time friends was hosting a get together at his ranch, so we gathered up a stable of Hot Rods and headed up there to check it out.  You could not ask for any better of a day, the Sun was out and the temp. was perfect.  As the day progressed, a possible foul fowl had made Dad less than comfortable, and we found ourselves in need of an extra driver.  For the past few months my 15 year old son, Michael, has been wanting to drive my ’32 truck.   I was not ready to turn him loose with my stuff yet, but it’s funny how as soon as you say “your not doing whatever until whenever” you have to eat your words.  You know what?  Those words tasted good!  When we needed him the most he stepped right up and knocked it out of the park.  A  few pointers was all that was needed before he was driving like a pro.

Until Saturday I have not had many chances to walk in my dad’s shoes, but watching my son go down the road in a Hot Rod was one that I will always treasure.  As I was driving dad home, I leaned over and asked “do you get the same feeling watching me drive down the road?”  Him having the same feeling brought a tear to my eye.  Michael, you did great boy, I am so proud.

To all the dads out there, give them a chance, you will be surprised!

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveller, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

Congrats go to Sean and Bruce!

This past Saturday we took a trip out to New Caney for The Hot Rod Hoedown. This was the second year for this show, and man has it grown. Once again, The Hellions put on one killer show. The weather was near perfect, and as my sun burned face shows, we had beautiful sunny skies all day long.

Our very own, Sean Ornduff, was awarded Best Paint for his work on his Dad’s gold ’47 Chevy Sedan. Congrats to Sean and Larry Ornduff for all their hard work.

Dad was also honored with a Top Three Street Rod Award for his Green ’32 Ford Hiboy Roadster.

Take a look in our Customs Gallery to see the ’47, and the Hot Rod Gallery for the ’32.

Once again, congrats and thanks to The Hellions for such a great show.

My first post!

For a while now I have been wanting a website for my shop, thanks to my good buddy Ryan here it is.

My goal on our site is to show what we have been allowed to build for our great customers, along with some tech write up from time to time.  If ya’ll have anything you want to see, or have a question on how to solve a problem, please let us know.

Thanks for stopping by.
